Abstract:

Electrochemistry deals with the relationship between the flow of electricity and chemical changes. The electrons in a balanced half-reaction show the direct relationship between electricity and the specific redox reaction. In this special topic lecture, basics of electrochemistry is introduced and electrochemical applications are discussed. From electrochemical measurements on chemical systems, thermodynamic data about a reaction is able to be revealed. The unstable intermediates are possibly generated. The electrochemical methods can also be employed for the analysis of trace ions or species in solution. Investigations of electrochemical property of the systems also offer an opportunity for designing a new power source.
